Yiwu to Europe Direct Train Services

Yiwu to Warsaw (14 days), Duisburg (16 days), Paris (18 days), Madrid (28 days) direct train services departing on Thursdays with a transit time ranging from 14 to 28 days.

On December 9th, the inaugural "Yiwu-Europe" international freight train linking the continents of Europe and Asia arrived at the Madrid freight station in Spain at 11:00 local time, marking a new chapter in China-Europe trade transport history. The train departed from Yiwu on November 18th, passed through 7 countries, and completed the journey in 21 days, extending the "Yiwu-Europe Railway" from Central Asia to Europe.

The completion of the 13,000+ km Yiwu-Europe railway marks a significant breakthrough in the construction of the Yiwu International Trade Comprehensive Reform Pilot Zone's international logistics channel, elevating the level of economic and trade logistics cooperation between China and the West. At the subsequent handover ceremony, Spain's Development Minister Ana Pastor and Acting Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Spain Huang Yazhong jointly unveiled the "Yiwu-Europe" (Yiwu-Madrid) freight route, envisioning positive trade prospects for both countries. The Zhejiang Provincial Government also sent a congratulatory message.

"With 82 standard containers filled with bags, stationery, handicrafts, and daily necessities purchased from Yiwu market, it's like China sending 'Christmas gifts' to Spain," said Feng Xubin, Chairman of the operating platform for "Yiwu-Europe." Not only does "Yiwu-Europe" transport goods manufactured in Yiwu and Zhejiang to Europe, but it will soon bring European products back to Yiwu. Leveraging Yiwu's market network, these goods will be distributed nationwide, providing new momentum for the continued prosperity of the Yiwu market.

Mao Feng, Chairman of the Spanish Overseas Chinese Association, mentioned in a media interview that tens of thousands of Chinese merchants operate small commodity businesses in Spain, with the majority sourcing their goods from the Yiwu market. Previously, after purchasing goods in Yiwu, Spanish merchants predominantly shipped them to Spain via sea, taking about one and a half months. Now, with the "Yiwu-Europe" train covering the distance in 21 days, more than half the time saved compared to traditional sea freight, this significantly enhances traders' capital turnover efficiency. As time costs and shipping fees continue to decrease, he believes more Spanish traders will opt for the "Yiwu-Europe" train.

With the complete connection of Yiwu-Europe, not only have Yiwu and Madrid become participants and beneficiaries of the New Silk Road Economic Belt construction, but it also brings numerous trade opportunities to the 12 countries along the route. The Yiwu-Europe China-Europe train is an important initiative by Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province, in response to President Xi Jinping's proposal to build the New Silk Road Economic Belt, extending it as a key route from the Pacific to the Baltic Sea.

On its return journey, this train will carry Spanish products such as ham, red wine, and olive oil back to China, aiding Spain in further expanding its exports into the Chinese market.
